Mary Elizabeth (Simmers) Hines

Hines-Mary Elizabeth (Simmers), 91, Nanty Glo, passed away July 19, 2023 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born Dec 2, 1931 in Nanty Glo. Daughter of the late William and Mary Elizabeth (McDermott) Simmers. Preceded in death by husband Francis “Bud” Hines, brother William A. Simmers, sister Madonna M. Patzer, and infant brother George Patrick Simmers. She is survived by children Mary Frances (Bernie) Shedlock, William T. Hines, Margaret (Randy) Sheckler, John J. (Georgeianne) Hines, Catherine (Alan) Coughenour. 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. Brothers Edward Simmers and Charles (Mary Jo) Simmers and numerous nieces and nephews. Lifetime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Nanty Glo, where she worked as the church secretary/bookkeeper for 35 years. She had a devout devotion to the Blessed Mother. One of her great accomplishments in life was working to put her children and grandchildren though Catholic School. Funeral mass will be Monday, 11 AM at St. Mary’s Church, Fr. Leonard Voytek, the Celebrant. Interment to follow in Holy Name Cemetery, Ebensburg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary’s Church. Bowser Ondriezek Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Nanty Glo are in charge of the arrangements.
