Margaret A. (Mischik) Smith

Smith-Margaret A (Mischik), 101, Vintondale, passed away Feb. 25, 2023 at Windber Hospice. She was born Oct. 30, 1921 in Johnstown. Daughter of the late Andrew and Anna (Franchank) Mischik. Preceded in death by husband John, sister Mary (George) Trusevich, brothers Michael Mischik and Andrew Mischik, and uncle Andrew Popolka. She is survived by children Michael (Carolyn) Smith and Charlene “Cookie” Smith. Grandchild Michael Smith, Jr. Marge was very active in her church, she was a member of both the Immaculate Conception Church, Vintondale and St. Charles Church, Twin Rocks, where she sang in the choir and grew flowers for the altar. Marge was a very strong and vibrant person, who was a dedicated housewife and mother. Her hobbies were vegetable and flower gardening, cooking, baking, and painting. She walked the Ghost Town Trail for many years and volunteered at fund raiser for the Vintondale Fire Comp. Family will receive friends, Thursday at Bowser Ondriezek Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Nanty Glo, from 11 AM until the time of Funeral Services at 12 PM. Interment to follow in St. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Vintondale. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Vintondale Fire comp.
