Obituary

Harvey. N “Uncle Butch”, “Norman” McClinsey Jr., 75 of Jackson Township, Cambria County, PA, passed away Monday, June 12, 2023 at his home with family by his side. He was the Son of Harvey N. McClinsey Sr. who passed away June 12th, 1980, and Son of Viola (Wood) McClinsey. He was born on January 10, 1948 at home in Ebensburg, PA

In Addition to his parents, Harvey was preceded in death by his Sister Betty Lou and Brothers, Roger, and Patrick McClinsey. He was additionally preceded in death by his Son-in-law Arthur “Art” DeSalvo Jr., and Brother-in-laws Duane Ludwig Sr., and Michael Smeed

Harvey is survived by his Wife, Sharon A. (Metzger) McClinsey, of 56 years whom he married on August 12th, 1967; his Daughters Sherri L. (McClinsey) DeSalvo, and Fiancee (Glenn A. Shay Jr.) of Nanty-Glo, and Stacey A. (McClinsey) Boxler (Michael. D) of Jackson Township and his Grandchildren, Brandie L. (DeSalvo) Weymer (David Jr.), Ashley L. DeSalvo, Hailey A. Wagner and fiancee (Miranda Harris), Owen M. Wagner, and Step-Granddaughter, Aubree A. Boxler. He is also survived by his Step-Great-Grandson, Liam; Sister Shirley Ludwig, Brother Dennis McClinsey Sr.; Sister-in-law, Judy Brett (William) and Linda Smeed, with additional numerous Nieces and Nephews.

Harvey Began his mining career at Barnes and Tucker, where he became a Mine Foreman. He then transitioned to working at Bethlehem Mine 31, and then Tanoma Mine totaling 25 years of his Mining career. He then worked at the Freight Car Division in Johnstown until his retirement.

Harvey was a Private First Class Veteran where he served in the U.S Army for two years, then transitioned to U.S Army Reserves for an additional four years of service, to complete his six year term in the Military. He was a member of the American Legion Post #619, Nanty-Glo where he served as a Trustee, Assistant Commander, and then Commander.

He was an avid hunter and enjoyed stock car racing in his younger years. He additionally enjoyed weekend-getaways to various casinos. Harvey loved spending time with his family and traveling with his wife, children, grandchildren, and friend Kathleen (Waldron).

He is now traveling again with his best friend, James (Jim) Waldron, who preceded him in his death on the same day as Harvey’s passing 5 years ago.

Friends will be received Thursday, June 15th from 2:00-4:00 PM, and 6:00-8:00 PM at Bowser- Ondriezek Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Nanty-Glo, and Friday, June 16th from 10:00 AM until the time of his funeral services at 11:00 AM with Pastor Joseph Brown Officiating. Military honors will be conducted by local Military organizations Friday following funeral services at the funeral home. Interment will be held in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Washington County, PA on June 21st.
