Stanley M. "Stush" Butz Sr., 80, Red Mill Road, Belsano, went to be with the Lord Feb. 15, 2012, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born Nov. 23, 1931, in Belsano, son of the late Stanley and Michalena (Scewczyk) Butz. Preceded in death by brother, Mike; and sisters, Ann, Mary and Jennie. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 55 years, the former Fay (Wagner) Butz, Belsano; children, Joseph, New Jersey; Judy, Texas; Donna (John) Robich, Pittsburgh; Stanley Jr. (Jean), Westminster, Md.; Anne, Virginia; David (Tina), Dayton; Matthew (Beth) Ebensburg; Mark (Leslie), Commodore; and Daniel (Sandy) Nanty Glo; 11 grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; and sisters, Helen Johnson, New Jersey; Rosie James, Johnstown; and Theresa Wagner, Homer City. Member of the former St. Charles Church for more than 70 years and St. Mary's Church. He worked on the Pennsylvania Railroad in Pittsburgh in 1952, then for Bethlehem Steel in Johnstown for more than 30 years, and was a farmer on Red Mill Road, where he raised his family. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Life member of Twin Rocks VFW, Post 7605, where he served as honor guard and Sergeant at Arms; and Nanty Glo American Legion, Post 619. Stush was a good farm mechanic and could fix almost any machine. He will be missed by his family and friends. He enjoyed being with his family and taking walks in the woods with his grandchildren. Stush also enjoyed watching the Pirates play baseball in the summer. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Bowser-Ondriezek Funeral Home, Nanty Glo, where a liturgical wake will be held Friday. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Church, Nanty Glo, the Rev Father Martin A. Cingle, celebrant. Interment to follow at St. Charles Cemetery, Twin Rocks. Military service will be conducted by the local veterans organizations.
