Michael J. “Mike” Patchan, 94 of Vinco, Pennsylvania, passed away November 13, 2024, at his beloved home with the love of his life of 33 years, Jan Rabel, by his side. Mike was born June 12, 1930, in Uniontown, Pa to the late Michael and Helen (Bobco) Patchan.
Preceded in death by his sister Helen Marie Pellish.
He is survived by daughters Lisa M. Schrock and Lori L. Patchan of Maryland.
At age eight he began piano lessons and found he had a natural talent to play music by ear and became an accomplished piano player throughout his life. He played for years in the Uniontown area, traveled the country with a trio, and while living for 40 years in Washington DC area, he played with the DC Society Bands performing at various functions, country clubs and Presidential Inaugural Balls.
Mike moved to Washington DC where he completed college receiving a business degree. He was executive vice president and a board of directors’ member of District Reality Title Insurance Corporation for over 25 years and was selected as corporate member of the University Club of Washington DC and was a member of Argyle Country Club for many years. He also held a position as Senior Financial Officer at Falcon Express, Maryland. After meeting his partner Jan in 1991 he retired in 1997 and moved to the Vinco PA area where he always said was the most gratifying and enjoyable time of his wonderful and extraordinary life.
At the request of the deceased there will be no public viewing.
Arrangements have been made by the Bowser Ondriezek Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Nanty Glo. A commemorative gathering will be planned in the spring in Ohio for family. The family would also like to express their sincere gratitude to Penn Medical Hospice Ebensburg, Pa and their nurses and aides for the wonderful support and care that was constantly given to Mike.
