Johnson-Michael “Mick”, 75, Jackson Twp., passed away May 20, 2026, at home. He was born June 3, 1950, in Johnstown. Son of the late James and Elizabeth (Fletcher) Johnson. He Is proceeded in death by son Jeremy Johnson and sister-in-law Pam Johnson He is survived by his wife of 56 years Clara Bowman, daughter Heather Newcomer (Larry Meyer), granddaughter Kaitlyn Johnson (Josh Hill), Christine Newcomer (Jeremy Rummel), great grandsons Jeremy Johnson and Jake Hill, son-in-law Thomas Newcomer, siblings James (Frances) Johnson, Gary Johnson, Diane (George) Bowman, Robert Johnson. Mick proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Germany during his military service. Following his honorable discharge, he dedicated 25 years of hard work as a coal miner, earning the respect and friendship of many throughout his career. He was a proud member of the Polish Club, the Nanty Glo Legion, and the VFW, where he enjoyed fellowship and time spent with friends and fellow veterans. Mick loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed camping, but his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love for his country, and the countless memories he created with those he loved most. He is survived by his loving family and many friends who will deeply miss him. Visitation will be held Monday, 2-4 and 6-8 PM, at Bowser Ondriezek Funeral Home, Nanty Glo, where funeral services will be held Tuesday, at 11 AM. Military services will be held by the Nanty Glo, Twin Rocks, and Vintondale Ritual Team. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mick’s memory to a local veteran’s organization.
