Marjorie Soltis

Aunt Margie, as most of us knew her and called her, was born and raised in Nanty-Glo, PA. The first daughter of George Steve Soltis (WWII - Army Veteran) and Mary Brinzo-Soltis. As a coal miner's daughter, she started her life with very humble beginnings. Always having fun with her family, playing on the coal slag heaps, swimming and fishing in ponds, eating fresh fruit from the fruit trees in the yard. Born and raised in a Roman Catholic household, she also learned about her Eastern European roots from her family and friends, attending many church services at Saint Mary's, Saint Nicholas Byzantine church, and the local Russian Orthodox church. Margie was an avid reader and old movies watcher. On Nov 4th, 1946, Margie welcomed her one and only sibling, Anna Marie Soltis (Holliday). Margie was a very protective, loving sister. She would even eat her sister's food that she didn't want so her sister wouldn't get into trouble. They grew up together sharing pets, love, Christmas gifts and great memories! After life in Nanty-Glo, PA, Margie moved to the Washington DC area out of high school where she worked for a DC law firm, and as an integral part of the US Department of State's foreign service branch. She traveled to 70 plus countries, met the Pope, lived in Paris, France and retired after 32 years of loyal government service. She then moved back home to Nanty-Glo, PA to live out her retirement years. Many loving, found memories of an amazing woman that will be deeply missed! Generous and giving to a fault, Margie was one of the brightest lights ever experienced in this life. Thank you, Aunt Margie, for allowing us to be a full participant in your amazing life's journey. Love you! Preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Allen Trout, her sister, parents, grandparents, many aunts and uncles, cousins and friends. Leaving behind her loving nephew and Godson, Thomas 'Mike' Holliday, Sarah Holliday, Michael Holliday (Godson), Alex Holliday, Thomas William Holliday (Godson), friends John and Lisa, and many others. Funeral services will be this coming Saturday, 05 Sept at, 11 AM, Bowser-Ondriezek Funeral Home and Cremation Services 1102 Cardiff Road, Nanty Glo, PA 15943.
