Lena (Sgro) Previte, 102, Nanty Glo, died Dec. 2, 2014. Born Oct. 5, 1912, in Carnegie, Pa., daughter of the late Frank and Grace (Petrone) Sgro. Preceded in death by husband, Domonic; son, Joseph; daughter, Pauline Szymusiak; siblings, Katie Sgro, Annie Insanna, Josep and Anthony. Surviving are her son, Anthony (Margaret) Previte, Belsano; daughter-in-law, Bernice Previte, Johnstown; son-in-law, Joseph Szymusiak, Gettysburg; grandchildren, Polly Previte, Joseph (Laura) Previte, Christopher Previte, Christine Taylor, Carly (Michael) Lonesky, Marisa (Jeremy) Howard and Anthony (Jessica) Previte Jr.; and nine great-grandchildren. Sister of Mary Schepis, Carnegie. Member of St. Mary's Church, Nanty Glo. Along with her husband, Domonic, she was co-founder of Gold Crown Market 1961, still being operated by the Previte family as Gold Crown Shop-n-Save. Former member of the BPW. Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Bowser-Ondriezek Funeral Home, Nanty Glo, where a liturgical wake will be held Thursday. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Church, the Rev. Father Leonard Voytek, celebrant. Interment to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary's Christian Services or St. Vincent de Paul, Nanty Glo.
