Hines-Francis T. "Bud", 91, Nanty Glo, passed away March 18, 2019 at home. He was born Oct. 3, 1927 in Nanty Glo. Son of the late Jacob V. and Mary Bertha (Wasser) Hines. He is preceded in death by his sisters Sister Jeannemarie Hines, Mildred Yingling, Alberta Cook, Mary Aline Boback, and Marie Therese Simmons. He is the last surviving member of his immediate family. Bud is survived by his wife of 67 years, the former Mary Elizabeth Simmers; Children Mary Frances (Bernie) Shedlock, William T. Hines, Margaret (Randy) Sheckler, John J. (Georgeianne) Hines, Catherine (Alan) Coughenour. 13 grand children, 16 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandson. Member of St. Mary's Church, Nanty Glo, where he belonged to the former Holy Name Society. He served on the Blacklick Valley School Board and was a honorary member of the Pennsylvania Sheriffs Assoc.and Nanty Glo Building and Loan Assoc. Bud was the oldest and a life member of the Nanty Glo Fire Company, where he served as recording secretary. He was an Army Veteran and served in Germany during the Korean War. Bud was the former owner and operator of Commons Hardware in Nanty Glo. The Nanty Glo Fire Co. will hold service on Thursday at 6 PM. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at Bowser Ondriezek Funeral Home, Nanty Glo, where a Liturgical Wake service will be held. Funeral Mass will be Friday at 10 AM at St. Mary's Church, Fr, Leonard Voytek, the Celebrant. Interment to follow in Holy Name Cemetery, Ebensburg. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Mary's Church or the Nanty Glo Fire Co.
