Bednar-Frances “Fran” (Kozlovac), 94, Nanty Glo, passed away Oct. 21, 2023 at Maple Heights, Ebensburg, after receiving many visits, face times, and phone calls from family and friends. She was born Sept. 7, 1929 in Ernest, Pa. Daughter of the late Nicholas and Barbara (Sasek) Kozlovac. She is proceeded in death by husband Joseph Bednar, son Gregory Bednar, sisters Betty Mehalko and Virginia Peterman, and in-laws George Spade, Bill Mehalko, Lester Farabaugh, Don Oldham, Dolly Kozlovac, Ernie Peterman, Mary and Mike Charney, Helen and Carl LaMonica, George and Julie Bednar, Andy and Rose Bednar, Francis and Nettie Bednar, and Ronald Edward Bednar. Frances is survived by siblings Mary Lou Spade, Eleanor Farabaugh, Jean Oldham, Louie Kozlovac, Joe (Shirley) Kozlovac, Mick (Marlene) Kozlovac, Diane (Joseph) Zamboni, Buddy (Debbie) Kozlovac, Debbie (Doug) Knapic, who she raised from a baby, and their children Erin (Carmine) Cannazzaro, Jaime (Tim) Laughard, Jill (Tommy) McConnell. Her beloved “grandkids” Luke (Sam), Maria, Lexy, Tatum, Colby, Maddox, Lyla, Tommy, Silas, Harry, Leo, Niko, Carmine (Kaylee), Gabe, and Trinty, and numerous nieces and nephews. Member of St. Mary’s Church, Nanty Glo, where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, Catholic War Veterans Auxiliary. Gold Card Member of the Nanty Glo Fire Ladies Aux , Nanty Glo VFW Ladies Aux, and was on the K and B Bowling team in the 60’s. Fran lived a wonderful life and touched many lives. She was an avid bingo player and made many friends, too numerous to mention. She loved going to the Nanty Glo Senior Center, and was a key player in helping get the center reopened. Fran worked many jobs over her years including, Nick’s and K and B Restaurant’s, Nanty Glo Acme Store, Cambria Dress Factory, and bartended at the Little Wheel. At Fran’s request there will be no viewing, a private committal will be held at the convenience of the family. A Celebration of Fran’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, UPMC Family Hospice, or your Favorite Charity in Fran’s Name. The family would like to thank the 1st Floor nursing staff at Maple Heights and UPMC Family Hospice for the Wondreful care Fran received during her stay.
